Model Towns Charitable Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Manager to join our dynamic team in Lautoka. If successful, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating construction projects from start to finish. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of Model Towns that promote sustainability, livability, and community well-being.

 

Responsibilities:

·Supervise construction projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.

·Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to gain a comprehensive understanding of project details and requirements.

·Foster relationships with external contractors, leveraging negotiation skills to secure optimal deals and rates for assignments.

·Ensure the acquisition and maintenance of all necessary permits and licenses, in compliance with relevant regulations.

·Recruit personnel and contractors based on project requirements, facilitating a skilled and efficient workforce.

·Delegate tasks and assign responsibilities to personnel, overseeing their performance and providing feedback as needed.

·Optimize resource utilization to achieve the best possible results, while addressing any personnel grievances that may arise.

·Report any discrepancies to superiors promptly, implementing effective and timely solutions to maintain project integrity.

·Ensure strict adherence to legal, health, and safety regulations throughout the project.

· Effectively manage site foreman and oversee site machinery operations.

·Maintain accurate quantities and programs of work, tracking progress and ensuring timely completion.

 

Requirements:

 ·  Project management professional certification or equivalent qualification is a bonus.

·A team player with a strong sense of collaboration and the ability to foster positive working relationships.

·Exceptional communication and leadership skills in English, enabling effective coordination and management.

·Strong multitasking, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple project aspects concurrently.

·Excellent knowledge of building permits, legal requirements, and construction procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.

·Proficiency in construction and project management software to facilitate efficient project monitoring and reporting.

·Proficient in using Excel and Word, allowing for accurate data analysis and documentation.

·Hold a manual driver’s license.

·Excellent knowledge of building and civil methodologies.

The Model Towns Charitable Trust is a non-governmental organisation committed to building cyclone safe serviced clean and green sustainable and progressive communities for disadvantaged families.
The MTCT was chartered in 2009 and registered as a Charitable Trust in 2011 with the mission to give impoverished families an opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty and provide an improved quality of life for them and their children, by providing and managing affordable and sustainable housing with appropriate infrastructure and community development services.
The project was founded by Peter Drysdale in 1985. Prior to registration of the MTCT, the project had been operating as the Fiji Rotahomes project under the Rotary Club of Lautoka (RCL).
