What is the job? 

Keeping our resort running smoothly is vital to our guests’ experience – as part of the Engineering team, the RQM Technician will keep everything looking sharp and running like clockwork, from welding, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry, to tracing HUB reports. With naturally high standards to support our own, you will approach every task with devotion and pride. Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager/Asst. Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer, and within the limits of the resort’s policies and procedures, ensure that routine maintenance is performed in order for the resort’s equipment to be operated with maximum efficiency to achieve customer and guest satisfaction.  

Your Day to Day

We are looking for enthusiastic and professional team players who know how to deliver great service and exceed guest expectations. Ideally you will:

  • Carry out routine and minor maintenance of hotel systems and structures.
  • Carry out corrective maintenance of guestrooms and equipment.
  • Monitor hotel plant.
  • Assist Engineering team members in all tasks as required.
  • Complete all necessary maintenance documentation as required.
  • Maintain stock levels, order stock as required &/or requested to ensure the smooth running of the hotel.
  • Provide quality customer service and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Repairing, replacing and refurbishing items around the resort.
  • Maintain a high standard of departmental work practices.
  • Work as directed by the Chief Engineer /Engineering Supervisor/Manager using all Personal Protective Equipment deemed necessary for the task being undertaken.
  • Live up to high safety standards – follow guidelines and tell your supervisor about any incidents, dangerous conditions or unsafe equipment.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of areas inside and outside the hotel, like the car park and pool. 
  • Always keep an eye out for improvements – follow the preventative maintenance calendar and keep everything working and efficient at all times. 
  • Be a friendly face and helping hand to our guests. 
  • Managing daily maintenance needs. 
  • Carrying out a preventative maintenance programme that creates a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with other departments and external contractors.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and residential structures.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals, follow building plans and blueprints.
  • Repair metal products by heating them with their welding tools.
  • They also inspect materials or structures requiring welding and monitor processes while staying aware of overheating levels, so nothing goes wrong.
  • Repair or replace items around the hotel and refurbish items in guest rooms.
  • By keeping on top of these tasks, you’ll keep our resort looking great and working well.
  • Organize supplies and make sure equipment is ready for the next day. 

 

 

What do we need from you

  • Trade Diploma or equivalent in either Welding/Plumbing/Carpentry and/or HVAC.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar role at a similar 5-star resort setting.
  • Proven knowledge in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the equipment.
  • Must be able to operate BMS.
  • Must be able to work in chiller and plant room.
  • Commitment to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays. 
  • Great communication skills.  
  • Oral and written fluency in English. 
  • Outgoing and people oriented. 
  • Able to multi-task and ability to handle stressful situations. 
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft word (optional). 
  • Must be able to use various power tools.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift/carry heavy objects, be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time, frequent bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Look smart – wear your uniform with pride.
