Senior IT Officer Full-time Job

The Fiji Sun has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and energetic person to join their team as SENIOR IT OFFICER. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about IT and flexible in approach to working hours. The position will be based in Suva.

Key Responsibilities:

• Main Information Systems and network infrastructure to ensure it supports the requirements of the business.
• Management of online services including the websites and social media platforms
• Manage backups and data recovery of critical data including system updates and maintaining archival of large data sets.
• Understand the dynamic business requirements and work with the print and digital team to ensure the business keeps up to date with new and emerging technologies.
• Supervise the team to deliver an effective ICT Support service and review opportunities for improvements.
• Specify, purchase, install, support, and decommission ICT hardware, software and consumables.
• Ensure compliance with ICT licensing, warranty and information security systems and procedures to protect network and data.
• Lead on the procurement of ICT systems and services with a sound knowledge of the procurement procedures, providing prompt information to Group IT and Finance Team as required.
• Maintain accurate and updated IT asset register for the business ensuring all inventory is accounted for.

Qualification, Knowledge & Skills

• Tertiary qualification in information technology/computer science or related field
• Strong understanding of roles and features of Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems
• Working knowledge of Graphics Design, Desktop Publishing & printing related software and technologies.
• Knowledge of Online Content management systems such as WordPress and latest technologies in Web design/development & Mobile applications
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
• Good Communication and people management skills
• A team player and ability to deliver tasks to strict deadlines.
• Willing and able to work night shifts and weekends if rostered as we operate 24/7.
